Life with god

You can know god.

Yes, even you.

I’ve written this bible based, simple to understand explanation for anyone that wants to begin a relationship with God.

I pray that today that person is you.

God desires a personal relationship with you.

“God’s love is meteoric, his loyalty astronomic, His purpose titanic, his verdicts oceanic. Yet in his largeness nothing gets lost; Not a man, not a mouse, slips through the cracks.”
Psalms 36:5 MSG

You probably feel far from God.

The truth is that we all start there. I started there. You see, our mistakes, our sins separate us from God. But God made a way to bridge the separation our sins create. He made a way for you to come into a meaningful, fulfilling relationship with Him through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

“Since we’ve compiled this long and sorry record as sinners […] and proved that we are utterly incapable of living the glorious lives God wills for us, God did it for us. Out of sheer generosity he put us in right standing with himself. A pure gift. He got us out of the mess we’re in and restored us to where he always wanted us to be. And he did it by means of Jesus Christ.”
Romans 3:23-24 MSG

You don’t have to stay far from God anymore.

The punishment for our mistakes should be separation from God in life and in death. But Jesus, although he didn’t deserve it, took our punishment when he died on the cross. He bridged the gap. Your slate with God is wiped clean.

“Could it be any clearer? Our old way of life was nailed to the cross with Christ, a decisive end to that sin-miserable life—no longer at sin’s every beck and call! What we believe is this: If we get included in Christ’s sin-conquering death, we also get included in his life-saving resurrection. We know that when Jesus was raised from the dead it was a signal of the end of death-as-the-end. Never again will death have the last word. When Jesus died, he took sin down with him, but alive he brings God down to us.”
Romans 6:6-10 MSG

This is where it gets good!

If you confess to God that you have made mistakes and you trust in Jesus’ death and resurrection as the payment for your mistakes, you will be forgiven. I call it being born again. A second chance at life, but this time a life centered on God.

“Say the welcoming word to God—“Jesus is my Master”—embracing, body and soul, God’s work of doing in us what he did in raising Jesus from the dead. That’s it. You’re not “doing” anything; you’re simply calling out to God, trusting him to do it for you. That’s salvation. With your whole being you embrace God setting things right, and then you say it, right out loud: “God has set everything right between him and me!””
Romans 10:7-10

This is just the beginning.

A real relationship with God is marked by continued steps toward God. As you move closer to God, every part of you will change for the better.

“As long as you did what you felt like doing, ignoring God, you didn’t have to bother with right thinking or right living, or right anything for that matter. But do you call that a free life? What did you get out of it? Nothing you’re proud of now. Where did it get you? A dead end. But now that you’ve found you don’t have to listen to sin tell you what to do, and have discovered the delight of listening to God telling you, what a surprise! A whole, healed, put-together life right now, with more and more of life on the way!”
Romans 6:20-232

An open invitation…

If this resonates with you, I want to ask you to stop right now and talk to God about it. You can talk out loud or in your head, He can hear you and see you even now. Below are some words you can say if you’re unsure of where to start.

God, I’ve made mistakes and I know that I can never right them. I trust that you love me and that Jesus’ sacrifice was enough to bring me into a real, life-changing relationship with you. Redeem my life, Lord. I cannot do it apart from you. I make the choice to walk with you in my mind, heart and actions everyday and I want to start today. Amen.
